Typical Day

Your child has the wonderful opportunity to learn and play in our beautiful woodland and meadow area.  Children self register on arrival and after a short period of play, we come together to say hello and explore the day’s activities.  During the day, the children have the freedom to choose between self directed play (e.g. den building, exploration) or the adult-led activities, (e.g. using a hand drill to make medals). Children are taught how to handle and use tools safely, with levels of independence relevant to their age and capabilities.  We share 2 group snacks a day, sometimes cooked on the open fire (healthy snacks provided). We have a beautiful open shelter, for when the weather is a little challenging, where we often gather at the end of the day to share a story and reflect on and celebrate our experiences and successes of the day.  This encourages children to develop social and language skills and offers them the opportunity to highlight anything they would like to try at the next session.
